You either love them or hate them. Whether you absolutely love wearing a pair everyday. Or have a pair tucked away just in case. Finding the perfect pair can be a challenge. And as someone who absolutely prefers them over wearing a skirt everyday. I will give you my tips and tricks to finding the perfect pair!

Make sure they are the perfect fit for you!

One mistake I commonly see. Is following the latest jean trends. And you often find yourself uncomfortable because they weren’t meant for your body type. And to avoid sounding like a broken record. You have to find the pair that fits right under your ribcage. It’s that simple! I won’t bore you with references to hourglass figures and so on. But if you have a short waist and you're trying to wear super high waisted jeans, you're most likely  going to be uncomfortable because they sit too high. But if you have a long waist, super high waisted jeans could be perfect for you. You really have to make sure they fit at the perfect spot. Or you won’t be too comfortable. Also making sure you can bend and stretch in them is essential. Cause if you can’t move around freely… You will be uncomfortable. A general rule is making sure to fit two fingers at the waist. So they aren’t too tight. But fit comfortably.

Finding the right style!

a lot of jeans

Luckily we live in a day and age where you can find a great many styles of jeans from bootcut, straight, and skinny jeans. You have lots to choose from! I would recommend finding a couple styles to swap back and forth. Or simply finding the right style for you. Just make sure the waist fits! Cause the end of the leg won’t matter if you’re uncomfortable.

High Rise vs. Low Rise vs. High Waisted

The difference is night and day. A good tip is if you have a short waist go with low rise. If you have a long waist go with high rise. And if you have a very long waist go with a high waisted pair. But it does boil down to what you prefer. You just have to try it to see if you like it.

Measurements

Yes, I am going to talk about measurements. They are important and often overlooked. I am going to walk you through how to measure yourself for a pair of jeans. Which will make finding jeans online a whole lot easier.  Find the end of your rib cage. Found it? Okay, that’s where your measuring tape is going to wrap around. Wrap it around. Did you find the number? That’s the size your waist band needs to be. If it’s an uneven number, round it up to the next even number. Usually the next inch. You can also add two inches if you want a little more room. I wouldn’t recommend going higher than two inches. But it’s whatever you find comfortable. Okay, now you're going to measure your hips. Make sure it’s the fullest part. Or you will cry over your new jeans not fitting. Make sure to write down your waist and hip measurements. Cause all you have to do is find the size that matches or is closest to the numbers. Then you have the perfect fit!

Don’t focus too much on individual size

We often get caught up in what size our jeans are. If they're bigger than a size two we feel fat. Because we rely on a subjective number for our worth. When we change our focus from the individual size and focus on our own measurements. The individual size is simply the size that fits you. Also sizes differ from each brand. It's simply the brand’s way of saying. “This is our smallest size to our biggest.” So don’t focus too much on individual size. Focus on what will fit you. Because clothes that actually fit is the best feeling. Not worrying about the size that’s on the tag.

Shopping for the perfect pair of jeans!

I honestly prefer shopping online for clothes. Cause you can use the size charts and avoid dressing rooms. And you know exactly what you're looking for. But if you're shopping in a store, It’s a completely different situation. I would recommend to focus on the rise of the jeans. Figure out what rise suits you best. Then grab a pair that will suit your needs. The bottom cut of the jeans is totally up to you. You can always try on a pair to see if you like them. Unfortunately you're not always lucky enough to focus on measurements in store. So I recommend grabbing 3 pairs in different sizes. And going to the dressing room to try them on. So you can figure out what fits you best. Because every brand is different. You might wear a four in one brand. But a 6 in another. It’s all about the fit. Not the size. Because brands are all different. So focus on what fits! I also have a pretty good tip! If you wear a size 6 in a different brand. Go ahead and grab a 6 in the brand you want to try. Then grab a size smaller and two sizes bigger. It sounds crazy! But you’ll likely find what you're looking for. Try on the six. Too small? You have two sizes up. If they're too big. It’s the size down. There you go! Good luck!

Remember there are exceptions!

I have mentioned a lot of different things. And they are truly just my tips. You might have a long waist and prefer low rise jeans. Everything has an exception! It's really about what you are comfortable in. Cause I can give you a million tips. But if you aren’t comfortable. Then you won’t want to wear them. So find what works for you!

I hope these tips were helpful and you're able to find a comfortable pair of jeans!
