Building a wardrobe with classics is a great way to never worry about investing in things that go out of fashion at the end of the season. Because you never have to worry about the longevity of the item. It’s classic for a reason. It has stood the test of time. Building a wardrobe with classics doesn’t mean that’s all you can wear. It’s a great place to start building up your wardrobe. You can incorporate trends if you like. If your truly starting from scratch to build up a wardrobe. I would start with classics!

1. Think about your own style!

The first place I would start… Is thinking about your own personal style. What would truly work with your style? We all have different preferences. If your more edgy, you might want a leather jacket over a blazer. Thinking about your own style is simply a matter of identifying what you like to wear. And giving it a label.

2. What does your wardrobe need?

Looking into your wardrobe, what does it truly need? Do you have enough basics? Do you have things that go together? Take a minute and really look. Do you have one solid color top you could wear with everything? Does it fit you? Really looking into your wardrobe and deciding what you need. Is a great place to start. I also recommend making a list of what you need.

3. Creating a Plan!

You’ve identified your style. You’ve gone through your wardrobe and made a list of things you need. Now, it’s time to make a plan. Are you starting from scratch with your wardrobe? Are you simply trying to create a more sustainable wardrobe? Identify what you are trying to create with your wardrobe. Then you can create a plan for your wardrobe. Whether it’s going through it and starting from scratch. Or simply adding a few pieces to help carry what you already have.

4. What to add?

Now comes the fun part. Getting to decide what to add to your wardrobe. In all truth, I haven’t seen your wardrobe. So, I can’t tell you what you should add. But, I can recommend you to have 2 tops in  solid colors. White and black. Are good go tos. But it definitely depends on your style. You might want pink or even blue. Because it goes better with your style. The trick is to really plan out what will work with your wardrobe. Then investing in things that can last a lifetime with proper care.

5. Invest in yourself!

When purchasing classics you don’t have to worry about them only lasting a season. So investing in quality classics is an investment you can afford in the long run. With proper care of the items. They will last a very long time. Investing in quality items insures your solid colored top doesn’t fall apart after a couple of wears. Plus, if you count up all the money you spent replacing the same top. You could have spent it on a bit more expensive one.

6. Create the wardrobe of your dreams!

At the end of the day your wardrobe should work for you. You should be able to get dressed and feel great in everything you wear. Everything should fit you like a dream. Your dream wardrobe is essentially what brings you joy to open your wardrobe doors. Create the wardrobe of your dreams!
